| The  museum of icons painted on glass from Sibiel is the largest of this type in Europe. The gathering of the collection started in 1969,  the pieces were mostly donated.  The  orthodox church ‘Sf. Treime” and the fortress made out of stones and earth from  the XII-XIII, are two tourist objectives that could be visited in the area. The  most important customs, specific for this area are the ones related to the  winter feasts. The” Colindul feciorilor”(the Boys  Carol Singing) and “Ceata Junilor” (The  Jungsters Group) are two of the most appreciated customs by the visitors. The  dances specific to the area arround Sibiu  are men’s dances like “Calusarii”, “Braul “ or “Ghiboi’s Sarba”. The  traditional costume of this area is easy to recognise by its black and white  combination. |
